The first step to clear skin is always a good cleansing routine! Read on to found out why.

Once you find out what kind of skin you have and what type of products to use, it’s important to follow a good cleansing routine. Most people should wash two times a day – once in the morning and once at night.

Wash in the morning:

While you sleep, oil and dead skin cells build up in your pores. Washing your face first thing in the morning gets rid of whatever settled in your skin overnight, keeping pimples and blackheads from forming. Another plus: washing when you rise can help wake you up! And feeling refreshed is always a great way to start the day.

And again at night:

So you washed your face in the morning. Why wash again at night? Because you’ll want to get rid of all the dirt and oil that settled in your pores throughout the day. Think about it. Are you exposed to pollution? Do you wear make-up? Do you touch your face often, exposing your skin to more bacteria and dirt? Imagine leaving all that junk on your skin while you sleep. No thanks!

Avoid over-washing too!

Just because dirt and oil can settle in your skin doesn’t mean you should keep washing your face. Unless recommended by a doctor, washing more than twice a day is a no-no. It can strip your face of its natural and essential oils. Why is that a bad thing? Because your face needs a bit of oil to stay healthy and moisturised. If you dry ¬-out your skin, your body overcompensates and produces even more oil – which could lead to a breakout! The key to a great cleansing routine – and clear skin – is always balance.
